We, at CodeMagic Ltd. ("Company" "we", "our" or "us") have developed and operate a web simulator for embedded & IoT Systems that assists in learning and planning embedded device interactions and programming though a school environment (“Wokwi Classroom”). Use of the web simulator service outside of a school environment (“Wokwi”) is subject to the general Wokwi Privacy Policy, available here https://wokwi.com/legal/privacy
Your child’s school, school district, school system, tutoring center or educational institution that purchased a commercial subscription for Wokwi Classroom pursuant to quotation or purchase order (collectively, “Institutional Customer”) has contracted with us to offer Wokwi Classroom solely for the benefit of the students and the Institutional Customer.
We are providing you with this summary notice as a best practice under the U.S. federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
We collect the following categories of information from children, for the purposes explained below:
When used in a school environment, we use the above information for the purpose of providing Wokwi Classroom only. Company may only use de-identified data for services development, research, or other purposes, provided that de-identified data will have all direct and indirect personal identifiers removed.
We share the students’ information with the students’ teacher and the Institutional Customer, for their use in teaching and educating the student.
If we are required to disclose the user’s information by a judicial, governmental, or regulatory authority, we will do so in accordance with our legal obligations.
If the student engaged in wrongdoing, we will share their information with authorities and third parties (such as legal counsels and advisors), for the purpose of handling the wrongdoing.
If the operation of CodeMagic Ltd. is organized within a different framework, or through another legal structure or entity (such as due to a merger or acquisition), we will share the user’s information with the entities relevant to the reorganization, provided that those entities agree to be bound by this Notice.
In addition, we use the services of Google BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Firebase and Cloudflare to assist us in the internal operation of the Wokwi Classroom and in doing so, they store and maintain personal information about the student in its systems.
All of the above disclosures are integral to Wokwi Classroom.
We use various measures designed to secure the student’s personal information and keep it confidential. These include encryption of the data when it is in transit and in storage, restriction of access based on user authentication and limited access privileges, and established backup procedures and business continuity plans to have the data available at all times.
We enable the Institutional Customer to review and delete the personal information collected from the student.
The Institutional Customer can also ask and receive from us a description of the specific types or categories of personal information we collected from the student.
If the Institutional Customer refuses to permit further collection of the student’s personal information, we will honor the request and will terminate that student’s use of Wokwi Classroom.
Once the student stops using Wokwi Classroom in a school environment, we will retain its user account personal information under the “Community” tier of Wokwi , subject to the general Wokwi Privacy Policy, available here https://wokwi.com/legal/privacy. Each user may, at any time, terminate its user account and delete its personal information by providing us with a written notice of termination to [email protected].
